Let’s take a stroll down the dark and scary road of improv. We will discuss many skills that you need in order to improv with the best of ‘em, including being able to anticipate and feel your music and safely move from one place to another, without having to put conscious thought into it at every turn. We will also do some exercises to release inhibitions (IE anxieties) and relax your mind! By the time we are done, the fear of improv should be fading away and you should have some solid skills to take forward to your next performances.
The skill of improv will not only help you with your performances, but I truly believe it can help you deal with the twists and turns of life in a more graceful way.
Prerequisites: An open mind and desire to flow and improv more easily.
Finding a colorful and unbridled love of movement at an early age, Satya started formal dance classes at age 14. Her love of the unconventional led her to join the AZ Renaissance Festival in 2005 as a belly dance in a world music and dance troupe, Ghazaal Beledi. Since then, she has continued her belly dance training, specializing in Transnational Fusion Dancer and now teaches classes and workshops throughout the US. Throughout this time, Satya found a love for the fire arts as well as aerial silks and most of all, lyra. She currently performs and teaches as half of the creative movement troupe, Satarah as well as a solo artist, and co-owns a circus studio in Charlotte, NC called Bloom Movement Artistry. Whether from the ground, through the air or the flames, Satya’s light burns brightly on stage, bringing a refreshing authenticity and from-the-heart pieces to audiences everywhere.
