This workshop will be chock full of fun little movement drills and sequences designed to build our comfort moving through spins. In addition to increasing our fluidity, these exercises will open up insights into the big concepts behind balancing a fierce spin with complex choreography. No flares required to jump in–we will kick off this series with a quick-and-dirty crash course in a few reliable techniques to generate a heavy spin before entering the hoop.
Prerequisites: Familiarity with foundational positions including front lion and mermaid (if not on hoop, then on another apparatus), decent spin tolerance (or a commitment to come equipped with gin-gins).
